Creating content for the FogScreen™ projection screen

FogScreen projection screen is meant for creating and presenting stunning visual experiences, and content plays a huge role. Content can include animations, still images, videos, 3D graphics, light or lasers and much more. The FogScreen projection screen experience can be deepened simply by being creative with the installation, and by being creative with how voices – and even smells - are presented. Only imagination sets the limits when using FogScreen. Here are some points to consider when creating content:

1. Background colour

Generally, a presentation’s background colour should be dark, and contrast between the background and the graphical elements should be high. Various colour hues may look different on the screen. For example blue backgrounds seem to “smoothen” the screen, whereas black creates the illusion of objects flying or floating. White and bright shades such as light yellow or light green emphasize the movement and turbulence of the fog itself. This can be used to create 3D-like effects.

2. Text

Good colour combinations include white text on dark red background; white text on black background; yellow text on blue background; yellow text on black background; yellow text on red background; black text on red background; and black text with white shadows on red background. The screen is smoother on its upper portions where the fog plane is the most uniform (the quality also depends on if the projector is placed up or down). Further down, the image quality degrades. Thin vertical lines in particular tend to disappear easily. Recommendation: Place small text or elements near the top of the screen. Please note that FogScreen projection screen is not meant for showing PowerPoint presentations.

3. For a spectacular presentation:

  • The “walk-through” FogScreen: attach a video camera that inputs to the projector and direct it so that it captures people in front of the screen. When they enter the FogScreen™ they’ll walk through their own image. It’s an eerie, captivating experience.
  • Videoconference with a ghost: a real-time videoconference on the screen enables you to talk with a real person appearing in the thin air.
  • Virtual reality: track the stereo glasses, so you can also see behind the objects.
