14.03.2005 -Celebrity Cruises and Cirque du Soleil add mystery with FogScreen
![]() | The leading cruise ship line, Celebrity Cruises, a subsidiary of Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines (NYSE: RCL), is using FogScreen in their new central attraction, The Bar at the Edge of the Earth, created exclusively for Celebrity Cruises by world-renowned entertainment leader Cirque du Soleil. Every evening, in the top deck lounges of Constellation and Summit, guests are invited to pass through a mystical gateway – created with FogScreens - and enter a world of wonder. A world bathed in luminescent light, pulsating sounds and mesmerizing visual effects. Specialty drinks and hors d’oeuvres found nowhere else add to this surreal atmosphere. This whole unique entertainment experience is currently available on select Caribbean sailings aboard Constellation and Summit with additional ships in the planning stages. |
The installations of FogScreens on Constellation and Summit are a break-through for FogScreen Inc., whose products have not earlier been used at sea. “We are delighted to be able to work with these entertainment industry leaders, and welcome them as our appreciated clients”, says Mika Herpiö, the CEO of FogScreen Inc, the Finnish start-up whose unique walk-through displays mark a new era in the development of effects displays. FogScreen’s US partner Imagex Inc closed the deal between FogScreen and Celebrity Cruises. “We see great potential in US sales of FogScreen” states Nancy Gretzinger, CEO of Imagex Inc. "There have been the expected telephone calls from Hollywood production companies who are excited about using FogScreen technology in their next movie or television show, and we know the creative possibilities will inspire those in entertainment. Beyond that, we are also looking at point-of-sale advertising, corporate lobbies, and other areas that could benefit from the innovations being generated at FogScreen." adds Nancy Gretzinger. Celebrity Cruises owns 7 of the top 10 cruise ships in the world. Cirque du Soleil recently reached an agreement with the Beatles to incorporate their music into a fantastic performance in Las Vegas. They now turn their attention to working their magic in a partnership with Celebrity Cruises to delight passengers on the seas.
